Employment
The Victorian School of Languages (VSL) is a government school with a strong history of commitment to the provision of language programs for students in Years 1 to 12 who do not have access to the study of those languages in their mainstream schools. The school's language program is delivered through face-to-face teaching in language Centres across the state and through Distance Education mode. The VSL is the largest language provider in Australia, providing language services to over 19,000 students around Victoria. The VSL employs over 1000, mainly sessional, staff at centres and full time teaching and administrative staff in the Distance Education Section and Head Office. Distance Education and the Head Office are co-located at Thornbury. For locations of VSL Centres, see the Contact Us section of this site.
Vacancies in VSL Distance Education are advertised in the press and Recruitment Online.

Individuals seeking sessional work at VSL centres should download the appropriate application form from the list below and send it in to our Head Office. You will then be considered for positions as they arise.

All people employed by the school must be eligible to work in Australia. It is a legal requirement within Victoria, that all support staff must hold a current Working with Children Check (WWC). Teachers must hold current Teacher Registration or with the support of the Victorian School of Languages can apply for a Permission to Teach with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
