Celebration of Kannada Rajyotsava
09 November, 2017
With a full house, a program packed with dance, singing and even a bit of acting the Melbourne Kannada Sangha community celebrated Rajyotsava - this was the day in 1956 when all the Kannada language-speaking regions of South India were merged to form the state of Karnataka! But in the context of the VSL it also acknowledged its first anniversary as the Kannada classes started this school year and have almost reached a very successful conclusion to the academic year. One highlight among many brilliant performances was, consisted of the two VSL teachers Guru Prasad and Narendra Gopalakrishna celebrating the students’ achievements by setting a scene of a VSL class on stage, when students were allowed to perform their items in the target language to a huge audience (see photos). Congratulations to the Kannada community as well as its two very passionate teachers for a successful event on such a big scale!
