Spanish Film Festival
21 May, 2021

The Year 11 Spanish Distance Education Students attended the Spanish Film Festival as part of their second seminar recently.

Students spent the morning completing different activities including icebreakers, learning how to write speeches, learning about film reviews and preparing for assessments. They enjoyed meeting each other and working in groups to complete a set task for one of their worksets (collaborative work).  The film that we watched was “La Boda de Rosa” (“Rosa’s Wedding”), a drama/comedy that opened the Spanish Film Festival this year.  Students enjoyed watching the film as they could relate to the many topics that were explored including family life in modern-day Spain, customs, language and culture, marriage, and the self.  Students appreciated being able to interact with each other and watching a light-hearted film, especially after the lockdowns last year. A group of students started a Spanish conversation group on Snapchat and others exchanged details to keep in touch using social media. Everyone had a great day!
