Hindi Holi Festival
24 April, 2018
Saturday 3 March was a very special day for all our Hindi language students, teachers and school community at the VSL Blackburn centre because we were celebrating Holi also known as the ‘festival of colours’. It is a traditional Hindu festival that marks the arrival of spring as well as a celebration of fertility, colour and love; it is also the triumph of good over bad. Our Hindi students participated in various activities such as poetry recitals, background stories, article writing and watching animated videos related to the Holi celebration. VCE Hindi students undertook a comprehension questionnaire based on a 45 minutes video on Holi and afterwards they made special cards. Learning a language is not just the language itself but also its culture and the VSL embraces this element of language learning authentically.
